We set out to research who Rocky Hanna is by looking at various sources on the internet and compiling into one spot for our ability to quicky reference. We explored his campaign page, Social Media sites, and finally we Googled his name.

We started out by visiting his webpage: Re-elect Rocky Hanna (https://rockyhanna.org/). Rocky Hanna Explains how we elected him in 2016 and over the past 8 years he has tried to be a champion for our students, teachers, and public schools. He touches on the struggles of COVID-19 during his time as Superintendent of Leon County.
Hanna explains he has eight key focus areas which have been his priorities while being the superintendent. Each of these topic are expanded upon on his website.

Rocky Hanna explains this will be his final term as superintendent. Under HB1467, which was signed by Ron DeSantis in 2022, Hanna is only allowed to serve 12 years (3 terms) on the School Board. At the time this bill was signed it was considered a contentious bill which some felt took away voter’s rights when it comes to local elections.

When Searching “Rocky Hanna” on google the top articles we found were articles about his outspokenness against the controversial educational laws that were being passed by Republicans. While our local races are non-partisan, Republican and Democratic policies have been difficult to escape in any of our elections.
