We set out to research who Joe Burgess is by looking at various sources on the internet and compiling into one spot for our ability to quicky reference. We explored his campaign page, Social Media sites, and finally we Googled his name.

We Began our research into Joe Burgess by visiting his campaign webpage: (https://electjoeburgess.com/). Joe Burgess explains that he was raised under humble circumstances which provided him with foundational values and experiences. Burgess goes on to explain how he moved every three to four years due to his father being in the military.

Joe Burgess continues to describe his experience in travel as well as his experience in education. He has an extensive history in the Leon County Schools starting out as a teacher and was named teacher of the year. He stresses an prioritizing academics while also fostering opportunities for students to do extracurricular activities.

Burgess eventually became principle of Springwood elementary where he turned the school from a “C” school into an “A” school. He is currently the principle of Chiles where he has repeatedly been listed as a school of excellence by the Florida Department of Education

Joe explains that he enjoys participating in community and leadership activities. He lists several organizations he is a part of.

Joe Burgess Social Media

Joe Burgess has both a Facebook and an Instagram. The social media platforms both highlight his involvement in the community and supporting local businesses. On his Facebook he also has a testimonial from a member of the community who has been a very involved and vocal member for parents.

It appears that he has held some Facebook Live meetings with the public. These meetings are usually held on Saturdays, Sundays, or Mondays and he advertises which day in advance. We encourage you to follow Mr. Burgess as well as all the local candidates to stay up to date on events they may be hosting.

News/Google Search

Upon searching “Joe Burgess” on Google we found mostly his campaign pages. Further down in the search we found an article from Tallahassee Democrat which covered a legal saga (https://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/local/2023/09/15/chiles-high-school-principal-burgess-begins-suspension-after-legal-saga/70862165007/). The article explains that Mr. Burgess was placed on administrative leave after “paying teachers for doing more work.” The linked story has more details.
