We set out to research who is Dorothy “Dot” Inman-Johnson. Looking at various sources on the internet and compiling them into one spot fora quick reference, we explored her campaign page, social media sites, and finally we Googled her name.

The Campaign Page

Dot’s Campaign page (https://dotfortallahassee.com/issues/) highlights her past Mayoral seat in Tallahassee as the first black female Mayor. She emphasizes that she values inclusion, perspectives, ethics, trust, transparency and civility on the city commission. She has been an educator and has been a CEO of a non-profit advocating for low-income families.

Dot’s page clearly states that she is not accepting donation bundles of $1,000 from special interests with business for the city. Her campaign is a people-powered campaign.

Issues that Dot identifies is an inequity in our neighborhoods. Stating all people are not safe or afforded a high quality of life or thriving business opportunities. She outlines that she wants to Reduce violence and property crimes, increase affordable housing, increase livable wage opportunities, and reduce poverty rates.

Dot also states that she supports stronger ethics policies, increased transparency and accountability with law enforcement, and she opposes property tax increases. She continues to state that she wants to increase recreational amenities for families and visitors. Other issues include neighborhood and environmental protections as well as smart growth and development.

Dot has a Facebook and Instagram page which highlight her out in the community. She also has ways people can contribute to her campaign through donations or volunteering. We recommend following her page, as well as all candidates, so that you can remain up to date on their campaigns.
